Biotechnological research is currently being conducted by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research and University of Kuwait. The main focus of the Institute is on diagnosis, vaccine development, pharmaceutics, pharmagenomics and bioinformatics. There is a plan to establish a new Biotechnology Centre in the country.
